Ryan’s achievements, as well as being inducted to Phi Theta Kappa, are college achievements that have been earned as a normal college student. Ryan is majoring in multiple areas: kinesiology (emphasis in exercise), physiology, biology, neurobiology, and liberal arts (emphasis in social and behavioral science). Ryan will be attending graduate school and majoring in bio-kinesiology once he graduates with a goal of earning a a doctorate in exercise physiology. Ryan has been offered scholarships after release.
Current Accomplishments:
- Associates of Science Degree in Neurobiology (pending one class remaining)
- Associates of Science Degree in Kinesiology (pending one class remaining)
- The remaining two classes are only available on campus and unavailable to inmates. Attempts for exceptions have not been successful at this time, but the classes will be completed upon Ryan’s release.
- Ryan recently discovered from the college counselor that he may be eligible for a third degree
- The third degree, currently underway, is an Associates in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Social and Behavior Science. This is what will earn Ryan six months off his sentence, which will bring him up for parole immediately in September
- Ryan has earned a 4.0 GPA, made the Deans list, and inducted into Phi Theta Kappa
- Ryan has been offered a scholarship to UCSD medical school for his Bachelor’s Degree in Neurobiology resulting in Ryan qualifying for Pre-Med
- Post prison academic career includes first, attending San Diego State University (SDSU), completing his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology and then to University Southern California (UCSD) for his Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology.
- While in prison, Ryan has created a self-help group focused on fitness and nutrition that has caught the attention of the Warden and other ranking officials. The program, Invictus Fitness & Nutrition is outlined in the links below
